PEEBLESSHIRE athlete Michael Girdler competed at the weekend for Edinburgh AC in the UK Youth Development Finals.
The West Linton teenager, who recently won the Scottish age-group title over 200 metres, came home with two bronze medals.
Although Michael was still recovering from an injury, he managed several creditable performances against some of the best age-group athletes in the country.
Competing in the 200 metres he finished third, just six-hundredths of a second from second and two-tenths behind the winner.
And the winning time was almost a second slower than the PB Michael recorded earlier in the season.
The Peebles High pupil was narrowly edged out of a podium place in the 300 metres - finishing in fourth.
But there was a further medal still to come in the 4x300 metres relay when Edinburgh finished third.
Michael also ran a leg of the 4x100 metres, where Edinburgh finished fourth.
