WEST Linton Golf Club hosted its annual Charity Day last month.

Bowel Cancer UK was this year’s chosen beneficiary and they will receive a cheque for £1300 as a result of the efforts of the willing golfers.

On the day, 33 teams braved the unfortunately typical elements of a Scottish Summer but this did not stop some fantastic scoring.

The winners David and Christine Davison and Robert and Anne Jamieson, carded a nett 51 ensuring they took the top prize back to Strathaven.

As a result of a number of very generous donations, there were also prizes for the teams placed second, third and fourth with other spot prizes for nearest the pin.

Scott Mackay, club secretary and tournament organiser, was pleased with how the day went.

He said: “West Linton Golf Club has a long tradition of hosting charity days and it was a pleasure to see so many people participate in this year’s event.

"Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Davison and Jamieson on their victory but I also wish to thank all the people who donated prizes as it all helped to make the day a most enjoyable experience for all those who played.”

The Davisons and Jamiesons were complimentary about the standard of the course.

They said: “West Linton Golf Course is in terrific condition and with the heather in full bloom accompanied by the stunning views, it was a pleasure to compete and we will be recommending to all our golf friends that they should play this championship course”
