PEEBLES Netball's juniors are making their mark on the national scene with no fewer than six Under 15 players now on Netball Scotland’s radar.

Emma Latto came to prominence at the Under 17 Scotland Trials, where, despite being just 14 years old, the goalkeeper was selected for the national long squad.

Five of her clubmates - 14-year-olds Abbie Sorrell, Hannah Little and Ruby Finn, along with 13-year-olds Cerys Finn and Jess Mitchell - have subsequently selected, following trial, for the East of Scotland’s Netball Development Academy.

Abbie as had a further call-up this weekend, with news that she will join Emma in the forthcoming Netball Scotland Development League, set up to enable the top Under 17 players in Scotland to play against each other over two weekends in November and December.

Peebles Netball will have representation both on and off the court at the prestigious league, with Faye Nicholson, one of Scotland’s up and coming umpires, refereeing two of the matches.

All six selected netballers play for Peebles Netball’s U15 Pulse team and for the Borders U15 District Netball squad, which is captained by Abbie.
