HAT-TRICK hero Paul Dickson admits he’s falling back in love with football after helping Vale of Leithen to a 6-1 win over Gretna.

Following spells at Dunfermline and Livingston the 22-year-old had given up the game before being lured back by the Innerleithen side.

After converting three penalties during Saturday's rout, Dickson said: “I’m really enjoying my football again.

“I’m getting fitter by the week and days like today remind you how good the game can be.

“Vale were almost relegated last season so we know how important every point can be.”

Brad Rixon, Sean Stewart and Marc Berry were also on target for Vale.

Ashley Kelly netted Gretna’s consolation.

Ross McNeil grabbed a brace as leaders East Kilbride beat Whitehill Welfare 3-0 at Fergusson Park.

Craig Malcolm also scored for Brian Kerr’s pace-setters.

Substitute Kris Mitchell scored with his first touch to give Gala Fairydean Rovers their first points of the season.

Following the 1-0 victory over Edinburgh University at Peffermill, Gala boss Dean Shanks said: “We always knew it would be tight against the University but Kris took his chance when it came along.

“The win will ease the pressure for a few days.”

Scott Dalziel’s second half strike earned Kelty Hearts all three points at the Indodrill Stadium against BSC Glasgow.

The former Junior champions had raced into a two-goal lead through a Stuart Cargill brace, before Tom Orr’s penalty and an Adam Strachan strike made it all level with half an hour remaining

Strikes from Ross Allum and Andy Rodgers inside the final 10 minutes rescued a point for East Stirlingshire at Islecroft Stadium.

Hosts Dalbeattie Star had gone two up through Dean Brotherston and Scott Milligan.

On Friday evening Spartans continued their charge with a 2-0 win over Cumbernauld Colts at Broadwood.

Jack Smith and David Greenhill were on target for Dougie Samuel's team.
