KENNY Donaldson suffered a heavy defeat to defending Division A champions Hawick Waverley in his first game as Stow manager.

Dean McColm grabbed a double, while Davis and Taylor Hope, Simon Philbin and Ryan Clapperton ensured Waverley left Stow with a comfortable victory.

Ex-Newtown and Lauder boss Donaldson takes over with Stow having lost their opening four games but he said: “We have a number of players to come back and I am confident we will pick up points once they return.”

Ashley Langford scored a last minute equaliser to save a point for Jed Legion in a 2-2 draw with Gordon, who had Jimmy Bell sent off.

Myles Wilson and Kevin France both scored braces as Highfields United thumped Kelso Amateurs 6-0 in Division C and Melrose’s Aidan Mckendrick continued his brilliant goalscoring form as he bagged four goals in a 5-4 victory over previously unbeaten Selkirk Victoria.

And Chirnside United survived a scare from Division C newcomers Tweedmouth Harrow as they won 4-3 in the Waddell Cup, with Alan Jess scoring three.
