BRIGHT young athletics prospect Ellie O’Hara continued her climb to the top by emerging victorious in an event at the Scottish Indoor Athletics Championships.

The 12-year-old from Cardrona became Scottish champion in the U13 age group by winning the 60m hurdles indoor title with a time of 9.93 seconds.

Her heat time was a massive personal best of 9.78 seconds, which is a UK lead and not far off the Scottish record of 9.66 seconds set in 2009.

For good measure Ellie also won bronze in the long jump with a leap of 4.46m - just two centimetres off her lifetime best. She was the second Scot overall with the event won by a visiting Irish athlete Praise Owoeye.
