PEEBLES long-jumper Faye Nicholson has returned from the England age-group championships in Bedford with a bronze medal.

And Berwickshire sprinter Cameron Tindle also finished third on the track.

Tindle, who was one of the youngest in the field, finished third in the Under 20s 200 metres with a time of 21-27.

The 17-year-old was around two metres adrift of winner Elliot Powell from Leicester.

The Edinburgh AC flier also reached the final of the 100 metres where he finished seventh, in a time of 10.63, behind Shaftsbury’s Ojie Edoburu.

Recently qualified teacher Faye, who is about to take up post at Kingsland Primary, reached a distance of 5.62 metres to finish third behind Wigan’s Danielle McGifford in the Under 23s long jump.

Coach, and mum, Linda said: “Faye jumped 5.62 metres which is a bit off her best as she is recovering from a niggling injury and just getting back to fitness. “She was lying in silver medal position until the last round.”
