Moorfoot Michael wins Manor Hill Race

MOORFOOT fell runner Michael Reid beat a record field to win the Manor Valley Hill Race.
The Edinburgh-based runner crossed the line in 1.10.32 - just 16 seconds ahead of course record holder Brian Marshall.
A total of 116 athletes - a record entry for the 20-year-old race - tackled the gruelling eight miles course with Craig Matlock of Hunters Bog Trotters taking third, just ahead of Bob Wiseman and Darin Dougal.
Angela Mudge of Central Athletics Club lowered her own women’s record by winning in a time of 1.13.48.
Peebles athlete Kate Jenkins was the second lady home - less than a minute ahead of promising junior Alex Cambell from the Moorfoot club. Selkirk’s Jack Stanners won the junior race over three miles.
The 13-year-old finished strongly to beat 14-year-old Lucas Cheskin of Moorfoots and fellow Selkirk athlete John McLean.
