Saintly success for Craig
JEDBURGH teenager Craig Grieve became one of the youngest ever winners of the St Ronan's Sprint on Saturday.
The 18-year-old, running from 8 metres, was impressive in the heats and cross-ties.
And he continued with his great form in the final to catch Hawick's Ross Weir (21) and Edinburgh veteran Graeme Armstrong (18.5).
Wallace McGown's (26) impressive form continued in the Open 200 metres.
The Sauchie flyer was the comfortable winner in the final from Hawick's Dylan Ali (20) and Dave McKay (24) of Kelso.
Selkirk's Greg Gibson (75) must have thought he was on his way to breaking his duck in the Open 800 metres.
The 25-year-old took up the lead on the second last bend but was pulled back on the line by Wishaw's Keith Redpath (150). Rory Anderson of Hawick (45) claimed third.
The 1600 metres was just as close with Anderson (110) catching long-time leader Gary Law (390) just a few strides before the finishing line. TLJT teenager Adam Craig (100) ran on strongly for third.
Peebles' Robbie Renwick (3.5) showed he has plenty of speed of his own to win the Junior 90 metres. The 12-year-old produced a great run to beat Hawick's Brodie Graham (9.5) and Kazya Stevens (14.5) from Peebles in the final.
Ryan Laidlaw (11) landed the Youths 90 metres on his home track from TLJT's Jenna Gillan (15) with Olivia Hood (15.5) of Leithenburn and Hawick's Darcy Graham crossing the line together for third.
Gala Harrier Bethany Wardhaugh (12) produced a tremendous run to win the Junior 200 metres. The 12-year-old caught Kazya Stevens (29) and fellow Harrier Marshall Smith (31) just before the line.
Hawick teenager Darcy Graham (24) won his fourth race of the campaign by claiming the Youths 200 metres. The 14-year-old just caught Jenna Gillan (30) of TLJT for victory with Pitreavie's Lewis Hunter (6) taking third place.
The Moorfoot club claimed first and second in the Youths mile with Kobe Stevens (185) pegging back training partner Ruairidh Britton (210) for the win. Gala's Fraser Wardhaugh (85) finished third.
The confined New Zealand Cup was won by Leithenburn's Sam Archibald (52) with his training partner Callum Caven (155) winning the 800 metres America Cup.
