CARNETHY Athletics club celebrated a unique double on Saturday at the Manor Water Hill Race.
And men's winner James Waldie just missed out on the course record despite horrendous conditions.
Waldie completed the 17 kilometre course, which involves over 700 metres of climbing, in 68.36 minutes - just 20 seconds outside Brian Marshall's record.
Marshall from the HELP club crossed the line in third, just behind Lachaber's Colin Donnelly.
Michael McGovern was first home for local club Moorfoots, finishing in fifth with team-mates Darin Dougal and Colin Williams just behind.
Jacqui Higginbottom, from the Carnethy club, won the ladies race in one hour 29 minutes.
Only 79 athletes completed the gruelling Peeblesshire course.
The junior course proved just as demanding with leader John Mclean of Selkirk taking a tumble on the steep descent. A sprained ankle forced the 15 year-old to pull up, allowing Jacob Adkin of the Moorfoot club to snatch victory.
