KENNY Donaldson believes his Lauder side will improved as the season continues after chalking up their first league win over Melrose.

The Division C team won 3-1, with a Tam Adamson double and Ben Gettel goal sealing the points.

Donaldson took over in the summer after previously coaching youth sides for Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Donaldson said: “It is a relief to get our first win. We have been progressing well until we lost 4-0 at home to St Boswells.

“We signed five new players before the Melrose game and the squad is now looking stronger. We have some talented youngsters in the team so I am hopeful we will continue to progress as the season goes on.”

A Scott Leitch double helped Newtown to a 4-2 win over Kelso Thistle, with the Villagers sharing top spot with Biggar United who defeated Hawick Legion Rovers 3-0 at Wilton Lodge Park.

St Boswells and CFC Bowholm also drew 3-3 in the remaining Division C game.

In Division A, Jed Legion move joint top with an impressive 3-0 win at Greenlaw, while Stow remain a point behind Jed and Gordon after beating Chirnside United 3-1. James Runciman and Grant and Callum Gass all found the net for the Rowdies.

Leithen Rovers claimed their first win of the league season in a 5-3 thriller with Hawick Waverley. Dillon Rice grabbed two goals while Tosh Fleming, Deej Meldrum and Ross Forrest also got onto the scoresheet.

Langholm Legion got their first points in Division A by beating West Barns Star 4-2.

Division B pacesetters Tweeddale Rovers have been banging in the goals but squeezed past Duns Reserves 1-0, with Grant Wilson scoring the vital goal.

Tweedmouth Amateurs thumped Gala Hotspur 5-1, who had goalkeeper Mike Sanderson sent off while Shaun Hardie grabbed Spurs consolation goal.

Andy Patterson, Jamie Logie, Andrew Sword and James Wilson all found the net as Eyemouth Amateurs defeated Earlston Rhymers 4-1 at a windy Warner Park.

Hawick United led 3-1 with ten minutes to go at Linton Hotspur thanks to a Kevin Strathdee double and Robbie Kelly strike but the hosts fought back to get a point, while Coldstream Amateurs beat Ancrum 3-0.
