PEEBLES Rovers manager John O'Hara admits it is unlikely his midfield general will be on duty tomorrow (Saturday) after being caught up in the Egypt plane disaster backlog this week.

Charles McAleavy was due to fly back from Sharm el-Sheikh today.

But following fears that a bomb brought down Russian Airbus 321 last Saturday, killing all 224 people on board, flights back to Britain from the resort were cancelled.

It is estimated that around 9,000 holidaymakers are currently in Sharm el-Sheikh.

O'Hara told us: "We are in contact with Charles' dad and it is highly unlikely he'll be flying home before the weekend.

"There are safety fears over planes flying out from Sharm el-Sheikh just now and even if they start flying again this week there will be a huge backlog.

"Charles is an important player for us, but the priority is that he gets home safely."

Peebles lost their fourth game in a row last weekend - Spartans leaving Whitestone Park with a 4-1 win.

O'Hara was without both McAleavy and his mid-midfield partner Jason Darling.

Although he had hoped to have both of them back for tomorrow's match at Ormiston, he will be without keeper Darren Walker.

John added: "I have a keeper coming from Haddington on loan for the one match and thankfully Jason will be back.

"We were very poor against Spartans and I've told the players it was unacceptable to play the way we did.

"I can swallow losing, but not in the manner we did last week.

"Ormiston will be a difficult game - it's a tough place to go as they are gritty - but I feel we can get back to winning ways and end this poor run."

Vale of Leithen are also on the road tomorrow when they travel to the Lowland League's basement side Threave Rovers.

Vale general manager Mark Lamb said: "A win for us at Threave would mean we didn't have to look over our shoulders any more. It is a big game and could take us safely away from that bottom spot."
