Tweeddale Rovers Colts 3

Hawick Legion Rovers 2

THE Colts hosted Hawick Legion Rovers on Saturday in the Collie Cup.

Tweeddale's second team started brightly, taking an early lead through a dangerous ball in by Falconer which end up being turned into the net by the Hawick centre half.

The lead was doubled not long after when a great run by Falconer resulted in the Hawick full back fouling the young winger in the box.

Laurie stepped up to take the spot kick and coolly put the penalty away.

The game opened up with chances coming at both ends with some great saves made by McGrath in the Colts goal.

Hawick got themselves back in the game just before the break when the Colts defence switched off at a corner resulting in the Hawick centre reacting the quickest to the rebound.

In the second half the chances kept coming for the Colts through Laurie, Lambert and Robertson but they couldn’t convert.

Hawick created a few chances but McGrath was there to thwart the visiting side, especially a fantastic save from a quick free kick.

Tweeddale regained their two-goal lead with Robertson making up for his earlier miss to calmly slot the ball past the Hawick keeper.

Hawick applied pressure to the Colts goal and got back in the game with good free-kick that beat the man of the match McGrath.

But the Colts held onto the end of the game to progress into the quarter-finals.
