A STAR studded team will of former Scotland stars will take part in the Alec Lucas Memorial Tournament next month in Peebles.
Last May a crowd of around 1,000 lined Whitestone Park for the inaugural football festival in remembrance of Marine Alec who was killed in action.
Alec had been a popular member of almost all of the local teams, including Tweeddale Rovers, Peebles Rovers, Vale of Leithen and Leithen Rovers, before his military career took him to Afghanistan in 2008. He was killed - aged just 24.
His 45 Commando colleagues won last year's tournament - beating Leithen Rovers 3-0 in the final.
And around £16,000 was raised from the day and a charity auction held later in the evening, which mainly went to supporting local football and the Royal Marines Benevolent fund.
The all stars team will feature Gary Mackay, Scott Crabbe, Darren
Jackson, Dave Bowman and Ray McKinnon with several other big names expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
Alec's father, Adrian told us: "Building on last year's success we have something for all the family as well as watching action packed fast competitive football from the 16 teams competing for the coveted Alec Lucas Memorial Trophy.
"An all stars celebrity team will be competing this year with former Scotland international player Dave Bowman heading up a line up of top former professional players."
As well as the tournament organisers also plan to have a beer tent, penalty shoot out competition, bouncy castle and catering throughout the tournament.
