VALE boss Rab Paget has quit the Innerleithen club.
Paget is bowing out after leading the Victoria Park outfit to promotion from the East of Scotland First Division this season.
A feat which he managed with five games left to go.
The news was broken to his stunned players following their recent game against Gretna 2008 last Saturday and Paget will leave his post when the season comes to a close.
He said: "I drive a taxi in Edinburgh and my work commitments have changed so that I now have to work nights. I realised that I couldn't give Vale and the squad the time required next season so I have decided to step down.
"I've done what I set out to do and that is gain promotion for the club. Vale is a fantastic football club that deserves to be in the Premier Divsion and I'm sure they'll do well next season.
"I'd never manage another East of Scotland club. From the coaching staff to the committee to the players, it's a fine club."
