As we revealed last week, assistant manager Kevin Martin and six other players left the Whitestone Park club following a failed coup to oust manager Stuart Robertson.
Martin, along with Bruce Callan, Elliot Black and Keith Harper, were all signed for the forthcoming season to play for the Rovers.
But it is believed all of them have now broken strict SFA regulations by training and playing for other clubs.
Callan, Black and Harper are all alleged to have pulled on a Craigroyston shirt at the weekend to play in a friendly.
And it is claimed that Martin turned out for Preston Athletic. Robertson told us: "We asked the SFA for advice on the matter and they are looking into it. If a player is signed for us they can't play - or even train - with another club until they are released. None of the four of them have been released."
Only Harper has officially submitted a request to be released - which will take 28 days for clearance.
An appeal for players - issued in last week's Peeblesshire News - saw 14 make training this week with a further two or three promises from players to make their way to Whitestone Park next week.
Amongst the new recruits are strikers Lewis Montgomery and Craig Knox, as well brothers Raymond and Ronald Fleming.
Robertson added: "At least I now have players I can trust."
Rovers were due to play Penicuik Amateurs last night.
Vale of Leithen manager Robbie Horn has enjoyed a less traumatic summer - and he can take further pleasure from his team's performance on Tuesday against Hearts.
Vale will face another stiff test tomorrow when they play Bonnyrigg Rose at Victoria Park - kick off is 2pm.
