Lothian Thistle 6 v 0 Peebles Rovers

JUST a month after holding Mark Lamb's team to a draw, Rovers conceded six in the Alex Jack Cup first round match.

Peebles battled hard on the Saughton pitch but fell behind midway through the first half.

Stand-in keeper Scott Carruthers was having a busy night - but he was faultless when a wicked deflection beat him just before the break for Thistle's second.

Worse was to follow after half time as Lothian grabbed a third and Nicky Cairns steered a cross into his own net just after the hour.

Peebles boss Stuart Robertson made changes in a bid to stem the flood, but his team allowed a further two goals in during the final 20 minutes.

Robertson said: "Nothing went right for us tonight."
