Horn eyes up eight in a row
VALE boss Robbie Horn was in seventh heaven at the weekend with his team reaching the second round of the Scottish Cup.
And tomorrow, he will be looking for his team to rack up their eighth straight win to reach the quarter finals of East Qualifying Cup.
The Victoria Park side are Scotland's in-form team - but the boss knows the run could end any weekend. He said: "We are going really well, but after the Scottish it would be easy for us to take our eye off the ball. I am determined to beat Leith on Saturday and reach the quarter finals of this cup."
It is unlikely last week's man-of-the-match, Scott Devlin, will have recovered from a knock in time to face Athletic.
And wing wizard, Davie Anderson, has also left the club as he relocates to Singapore for work.
But Horn will be boosted by the return of Grant McNicol and Jamie Lauder to his squad - and he hopes to find a replacement for Anderson in the coming weeks. Robbie added: "I'll speak to the chairman to see about the chances of replacing Davie. He's a good player and will be missed, but I won't be rushing into finding a replacement."
Peebles entertain First Division leaders Preston Athletic with several key players missing. Stuart Robertson's team beat Athletic earlier in the season in a cup game.
But are without players like Craig Edgar, Raymond Fleming and Greg Shortreed as well as a couple of other injuries.
Robertson said: "It was a difficult game when we last played them and it will be every bit as hard this time. We are struggling for players as I have at least five out and I don't have the biggest of squads.
"It is frustrating as last week's win puts us back in to contention. We'll do our best this week but I'm not too hopeful."
