VALE of Leithen have announced Jamie Burrell as their new manager following the sudden departure of Robbie Horn last weekend.
Burrell, who was assistant manager at the club, was given the nod from the Victoria Park committee on Tuesday night - just 72 hours after Horn alerted them of his intentions to return to Berwick Rangers.
Coach Colin Affleck has been named as his assistant.
Jamie told the Peeblesshire News: "The change has been a bit sudden and we need to prepare as quickly as we can for this week's game.
"I'm not coming in to make massive changes - the Vale have done well under Robbie, very well in cup competitions, but we need to start climbing that table.
"We have quality players but we are a bit light on the ground and I'll be looking to bring one or two players in to give us more depth."
Horn, who spent six seasons as a player at Berwick Rangers, has returned to Shielfield to act as assistant to Ian Little.
Robbie said: "Nothing was in place until the end of last week. I couldn't really turn down the offer when it was made to me - Berwick's a club I know really well and they will put me through my B coaching licence.
"I am very sad to leave the Vale as I've met a lot of good people and made a lot of friends there. I'll certainly be watching for their results every Saturday."
The Innerleithen club were dealt a further blow with the news that Grant McNichol has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
But new boss Burrell, who previously managed Craigroyston and Bonnyrig Rose Under 21s, has convinced want-away striker Steve Radzynski that he has a future at the club.
Jamie added: "I spoke with Stevie and told him that I want to keep him, and he says that he wants to stay.
"Any bids that come in for him will be rejected."
Vale travel to Tynecastle tomorrow (Saturday) looking for three points to take them up the table.
Also looking for three points tomorrow are Peebles Rovers who entertain high-flying Eyemouth United.
Stuart Robertson's team need a win to climb towards mid-table.
Both games kick off at 2pm.
