PEEBLES Rovers were handing out early presents on Saturday as they gifted their hosts some second-half goals.

John O’Hara’s makeshift side had been the better team during the opening 45 minutes.

But a few howlers and several missed chances gave Easthouses an easy 5-1 victory.

A furious O’Hara told us: “I thought the trialists that came in did a good job for us but I was angry about giving away two goals at corners - corners are something we work on a lot at training.

“We played well enough in the first half and, if we’d taken our chances, should have been in front. But Easthouses are a quality team at playing on the counter attack and we gave them the ball too easily at times.

“I’m disappointed with that second half.” With seven regulars missing through injury and work commitments O’Hara did well just to field a competitive team.

Despite the problems Craig Edgar fired the visitors in front after only three minutes.

Scott Sutherland, Jordan Hall and Jason Darling all had chances to increase the lead before Rory McKinnon equalised before the break.

Craig Brown scored the first of his second-half hat-trick straight from a corner on 48 minutes.

In a dismal second half Peebles conceded four goals.
