Apart from the prize for Top Goalscorer, which is determined by the highest number of goals scored by a player, the awards Most Improved Player and Players’ Player were voted for and agreed mainly by the players themselves, while the Player of the Season was the coaches’ selection. In addition there were two very special awards, the John Kirkpatrick Memorial Trophy awarded to one of the under 17 players and the Tom Booth Cup awarded to one of the under 16 players.

The event was very well supported with almost 200 players, parents and guests in attendance.

This year, the club was honoured with the presence of Steven McLean from St Johnstone FC to give out the many awards, as well as David Graham, former Peebles Thistle executive who was also on hand to give out the two major trophies.

The awards evening moved along at a blistering pace with various activities e.g. last man standing bingo, an auction, a raffle, as well as a short presentation on positive coaching from Alan Frain of Peebles FC.

Each age group coach provided their season’s review and it was noted that a common theme, emerging from all the reports, was the highly positive commitment, attitude and enthusiasm of all players throughout the whole of the youth sections teams. Equally encouraging was the positive expectations of each team as they head into next season, with the introduction of improved winter training facilities now available at Peebles High School.
