The home team chalked up their ninth straight victory to close in on leaders Edinburgh City.

Vale conceded a penalty after only six minutes after Ross Brady came in late on Iain Anderson.

The towering striker sent Mark Wilson the wrong way to break the deadlock.

Vale had done well to contain the Raydale side up until the half hour when Scott Milligan found enough room to squeeze home a shot.

Mark Lamb’s team almost pulled a goal back before the break when Kris Mitchel was put through but his shot went wildly over.

And it was only the reactions of Wilson at the other end which prevented a Milligan freekick making it three.

Mitchell made amends for his earlier miss just nine minutes into the second half as he blocked Graham Wright’s attempted clearance and scooped the ball into an empty net from 35-yards out.

Gretna almost responded immediately with Connor Graham hitting the bar.

And any hopes of an upset ended just after the hour as Anderson set up Addison to make it 3-1.

A late fourth from a corner was cruel on Vale - but nobody could deny Gretna their ninth straight win.

Vale of Leithen: M Wilson, R Sclater, J Gill, J Elliott, J Blaikie, E Sanderson, R Brady, K O’Brien, A Hunter, K Mitchell, D White. Subs: S Lynch, J Stevens, I Little, & M Beveridge.
