Opening away from the clubhouse Biggar stormed into an early lead via the boot of Craig Parker who kicked three penalties and then converted his own try for a very handsome 16-0 lead.
That this was deserved is in no doubt although even with this lead, the game was a fairly frantic affair, with errors a-plenty and with play verging on the scrappy.
There seemed little in the way of real 'bite’ to the day - save, that is, from the increasingly bitter breeze - and the passion which had been so evident against Peebles seemed once again to have gone missing.
Kelso made a big in-road into Biggar’s lead after an initial penalty from stand off Adnaan Osman when they took full advantage from a piece of real good fortune.
With possession being shipped wide a loose pass struck their centre full on the face. As Biggar were caught like rabbits in the glare of car headlights, believing the ball to have been clearly knocked-on, Kelso played on and hooker Chris Riddell burst through and onto the ball for a try which Osman converted for 16-7.
Parker then added a third penalty for the half time score of 19-10.
With both sides restored to full strength - Davy Reive and opposite number were given a yellow following an altercation on the touchline - Biggar opened the half well with a try from Chris McKeand which parker converted for 26-10.
As has so often happened this season Biggar could not really put Kelso to the sword to gain an all-important bonus point and the game stuttered on as neither side managed to gain any real control.
Both sides struggled to retain possession in contact with regular turnovers negating earlier good passages of play.
With players switched regularly Biggar will keep a watchful eye over hooker Michael Rutherford who had to retire after a head knock.
Kelso had the last word as winger Andrew Haig took a neat switch ball from centre Mee Kaaeel Hartley to cross in the corner. Osman converted for 26-17, a couple of points short of gaining a losing bonus.
The fact that on this occasion the Border side fielded as many overseas players as Biggar brought to mind the negative criticism of the Kelso faithful just a couple of years ago when Ted Tauroa played for Biggar.
