ROVERS manager Stuart Robertson was left reeling after his team crashed to their worst defeat of the season.

After some early pressure from Peebles, it was Berwick who opened the scoring on seven minutes.

Kristian Neil made a menacing run into the Peebles box before he coolly drilled the ball past an exposed Scott Carruthers.

After a swift Peebles breakaway, Kyle McCartney instinctively saved a Michael Holness shot with his legs before Neil and Sam Young both came close to increasing the Rangers lead with good efforts.

At the other end, after some good leading-up work from Jason Girdwood and Greig Shortreed, the Berwick 'keeper foiled Craig Edgar with a fine save at close range.

But it was Peebles who had a lucky escape on the half-hour when Young went racing into the Rovers box but Girdwood cleared his shot off the goal-line and away to safety.

A second did arrive befor ehalf time with Darren Lavery racing clear of the Peebles defence to coolly round Carruthers and slot the ball home from an acute angle.

Peebles reduced the leeway on 57 minutes with a well-worked goal. After collecting a Girdwood pass, Holness sent over a right-wing cross which picked out the in-rushing Craig Edgar before he drilled the ball past a diving McCartney from 12 yards.

Robertson's team were now enjoying their best spell of the game as from an Edgar right-wing cross, Rovers substitute Peter Conaghan sent the ball just over the crossbar with an angular header.

But it was Berwick who sealed a well-deserved win with a third goal after 83 minutes. After the Peebles defence had failed to clear a Burstow corner-kick from the right, the loose ball broke kindly to Callum Hill to fire past a helpless Carruthers.

Then two minutes from full-time Ronald Fleming was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.
