As well as being clinical in front of goal, John O’Hara’s team produced a defensive masterclass against an Ormiston team who had scored seven the previous weekend.

Walker in the home goal enjoyed a relatively straight forward afternoon with a large amount of credit given to his back four in front of him.

With plenty of chances falling for the hosts it looked to be only a matter of time before they got their noses in front.

Murray saw a half chance flash inches wide of the target with youngster Ndiweni stinging the palms of the away goalkeeper moments later.

The quality from wide areas continually put Ormiston on the back foot and this is where Peebles would finally break the deadlock.

Veteran Fankie Arthur whipped in a pin-point cross for skipper Dale Richardson to steer the ball in off the keeper.

Straight from the restart Ormiston had their best chance of the game. A cross into Walker’s six yard box saw an outstretched boot from their striker deflect the ball just past the post.

Rovers responded with a series of chances but the score remained 1-0 at the break.

Conaghan, Hall and Rossi saw much more of the ball after half time, allowing Ndiweni and Arthur to push into the gaps further up the pitch.

Sutherland almost got himself on the scoresheet as his powerful effort was well saved by the Ormiston number one.

Johnny Flockhart and Daniel McLeavy continued to push forward with the ascendency once again in the home sides favour. Great experience from Richardson and Young Chris Flockhart made an almost immediate impact from the bench.

The big midfielder, who is returning from a groin strain, dispatched a fantastic end to a sweeping Rovers counter.

Ormiston found themselves with a free kick just outside the Peebles box. The resulting kick was fired into the wall and as Hall picked it up he sent a sharp pass into the run of the advancing Arthur.

Weighting a clever ball across the six yard line Flockhart’s fresh legs allowed him to run past the retreating last defender and he coolly slotted the ball into the back of the Ormiston net.

Peebles comfortably saw out the remainder of the game which now sends them back to the top of the East of Scotland first division.
