IT took just 30 seconds to sell out a global cycling event that is being staged in the Borders at the end of May.

Competitors had to be quick off the mark to secure their spot in the TweedLove Enduro Series when it went on sale last Wednesday.

More than 600 riders from around the world will descend on the Tweed Valley for one of the hottest events in the cycling calendar on May 30-31.

“The TweedLove EWS round broke all records by selling out so quickly,” said organiser Fiona Dalgleish.

“We’ve got entries from Chile, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and all over Europe.

“Local Tweed Valley residents managed to snag entries, too. I know of one Peebles bloke who was on business in Korea who was online at 2am to get his spot, and another who was in Canada ski–ing who also managed to get a place!” Local riders vying for an EWS win include Gary Forrest, Katy Winton and Ruaridh Cunningham.

Fiona added: “The expo area on Tweed Green in Peebles will be even bigger and better too, with international brands showcasing their latest offerings, and this year, the Geek Zone will allow bike fans to meet teams, see new products and hear about the latest in the bike industry. It’s going to be an exciting year.” Competitors had to be quick off the mark to secure their spot in the TweedLove Enduro Series when it went on sale last Wednesday.
