FOUR swimmers from Peebles were among 700 competitors from 21 countries in the Edinburgh International Swim meet at the Royal Commonwealth Pool on March 13-15.

Jodie Pyman, Kathryn Swinney, Finlay Dewar and Gregor Swinney lined alongside world record holders, Olympians, Commonwealth and European Champions.

This was a competitive event and it was a great achievement for the Peebles Amateur Swimming Club members to be selected to compete against the likes of Fran Halsall, Hannah Miley, Aimee Willmott, Liam Tancock, Fabio Scozzoli, Adam Peaty, Ross Murdoch, Ben Proud, Michael Jamieson and Andrew Willis.

Jodie, 12, and 17-year-old Gregor achieved personal bests in the butterfly.

Gregor also took part in the 200m and 400m individual medley and the breaststroke.

Kathryn, 15, competed in the women’s 100m and 200m backstroke and Finlay, also 15, tackled the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and the 200m breaststroke.

Many thanks to coaches Lauren Jocelyn and Rick Dewar for being poolside at the weekend. All the swimmers are supported by Club Sport Tweeddale.
