Jed-Forest 16 v 27 Peebles

TRICKY conditions were always going to test Peebles on this trip to Jed-Forest.

But the Gytes men commanded the game from the start.

An offloaded to Fraser Strachan led the first try of the match early on.

And Donald Anderson kicked the conversion from near the touchline tostretch the lead.

Jed Forest aren't a team for lying down and they bounced back with their own try within a minute through Gregor Young, but the conversion was missed so Peebles stayed in the lead.

Peebles extended their lead even further when a good cross field kick by Neil Warnock allowed Craig Hunter to run in and score their second try.

Full back Donald Anderson kicked successfully again to take the visitors to fourteen points.

The lead was boosted by another three points with a penalty in front of the posts.

Despite Jed also kicking a penalty Peebles moved clear on the stroke of half time with Neil Warniock completing a good driving move for a try to take the score to 24-8.

Ewan Scott kicked a penalty for the home side just after the break.

And midway through the second half Jamie McCraw went over for a try.

But Donald Anderson kicked yet another penalty to make sure there was no way back for Jed.

After the game Peebles' team coach Bruce McNaughton told the Peeblesshire News: "Peebles performed well, but they should have played to their strengths not their weaknesses in the second half."
