PEEBLES face a trio of travels at the start of the forthcoming season.

But manager Rab Linton is happy with the fixture list. East of Scotland officials published the league fixtures this week.

Peebles will travel to play Leith Athletic in their opening game of the season on Saturday, August 14, before heading up to Easthouses Lily just four days later for a midweek match.

Linton's team also have an away tie the following Saturday in the Image Printers Cup against Ormiston.

The manager told us: "I'm happy enough with the way the fixtures have worked out. Leith and Easthouses will be difficult but hopefully we'll be ready for them."

Up to 25 players are expected at Whitestone Park on Tuesday for pre-season training.

The manager added: "As soon as we get the first night's training under our belt we will start signing boys."

Peebles will entertain Gala Fairydean in their first home game of the season on August 28.

Promoted Vale of Leithen enjoy two home games to kick off life in the Premier Division. Stewart Churchill's team entertain Heriot-Watt University before Selkirk arrive at Victoria Park on the Wednesday for a crunch Borders derby.

Vale travel to Hawick Royal Albert in the first round of the Image Printers Cup the following Saturday.

Secretary Alex Currie said: "The home games put pressure on us as we will be expected to get six points from them. I think Selkirk will be stronger this season and that one will be tough."

Vale's pre-season started on Saturday with their 17 signed players.
