TWEED Valley Ptanque Club had their annual visit from Inverleith Ptanque Club, of Edinburgh, on Sunday afternoon at Kailzie Gardens in Peebles.

Wellies and waterproofs was the order of the day but the afternoon was a great success.

There was a good turnout from both clubs and a lot of well-matched games with both teams being level till the final end.

With only two games to play Inverleith was ahead with six games won to Tweed Valley's four games. The pressure was on for the last two teams to win their games to make it six games each.

Despite their best efforts and lots of encouragement from the sidelines the final games ended with one being a very close win and the other a close defeat making the overall result a win to Inverleith by seven games to five.

As the Inverleith Club has players who play at National level and also fielded the Scotland national Ptanque Coach, Margaret Montgomery, and the Scottish national Ptanque Umpire, Colin Montgomery, the final result was still a pretty good one for Tweed Valley.

At the end of the afternoon the Inverleith team of Mags and Monty Montgomery were the overall winners and went home with a prize each and the trophy for the Inverleith club yet again.

The winning Tweed Valley players were Margaret and Kenny Brown with David Adamson, each received a prize of The Tweed Valley Ospreys DVD.
