The 28-year-old ended this year’s Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida by winning the grand prix finale on his London 2012 horse Hello Sanctos.

Scott, who now lives in the Manor Valley, landed the top prize of just under £100,000.

The Olympic and European team gold medallist recorded a clear round in 43.44 seconds during the seven-horse jump-off.

Ireland’s Richard Moloney and Slieveanorra claimed second spot.

And America’s Jessica Springsteen, daughter of rock star Bruce Springsteen, took third place with Vindicat W.

Brash’s performance ended a successful festival for British show-jumpers, with Ben Maher being named leading rider across the event and Tom Gredley taking leading rider in the Suncast series.

British Show-jumping’s performance manager Rob Hoekstra said: “It has been a tremendous festival for our riders this year, and to finish on such a high just couldn’t have been better.

“Scott rode brilliantly and thoroughly deserved his win. Both he and Sanctos were superb.” Brash retains the World number one spot - a position he’s held since claiming it last December.

Taking the title from colleague and fellow team rider Ben Maher following his win at the Global Champions Tour Final, he has held a clear lead ever since. Scott now sits on 3,162 points, a total of 332 points ahead of Ben on 2,830 points. Two years ago both Scott and Ben helped Great Britain win Team Gold at the London 2012 Olympic Games alongside Peter Charles MBE and Nick Skelton OBE. The pair then went on to win Team Gold last summer at the European Championships in Herning alongside Will Funnell and Michael Whitaker.

Ben also won Individual Silver and Scott, the Individual Bronze.
