Charlotte Hope and Kaitlyn Blair helped Langholm win the Brewin Dolphin Under 15 Scottish Cup in Stirling.

The girls, who take part in weekly rugby sessions at Peebles High School, have been recently playing for Langholm who act as the Borders Under 15 team and draw their players from throughout the south east of Scotland.

Sunday saw the Girls Finals day at Stirling County RFC’s ground at Bridgehaugh, with Bowl and Shield finals at Under 15 and Under 18 taking place on the back pitches, before the Cup finals at both age groups took place on the main pitch.

Having overcome Alva Academy/Alloa High School and Biggar RFC Girls in the earlier rounds, Langholm were up against Hillhead/Jordanhill in the final. Having scored first, Langholm soon found themselves behind 5-7 after a converted try by Hillhead/Jordanhill, but a sustained period of pressure saw the Borderers forge ahead prior to the break, leading 24-7.

Charlotte scoring two of Langholm’s tries.

The second half saw both teams soak up a lot of pressure with some outstanding displays of tackling. With the only score in the second half being an unconverted try by the Glasgow side, this saw the trophy head to the Borders with a 24-12 win.

Girls rugby continues on Friday lunchtimes at Peebles High School for all ages, S1 to S6.
