Peeblesshire’s Dillon Simpson triumphed at the TSG national competition earlier this year at Close House - where he represented local company Glenrath Farms.

Part of the prize was the chance to play a round with the Ryder Cup hero who is the touring professional at the Northumberland course.

Dillon, who plays his golf at West Linton Golf Club, said: “I’m a keen golfer and having the chance to play at Close House again only two weeks after winning the final is a fantastic opportunity.

“I’ve loved playing the course here, but to go around the Lee Westwood Colt Course with Lee Westwood himself was something else.” The prize-winning round of golf was played as part of Close House’s annual Founders’ Day competition and Dillon was followed around by his family for additional support.

“The whole day at Close House was an incredible experience” Dillon added.

“Lee was such a great sportsman, down to earth and had some great stories following The Ryder Cup victory.” Lee took time to give Dillon tips after the round which will help in his game.

Alan Turnbull, managing director of TSG in Scotland, added: “Our national competition is becoming more and more competitive with regional pride at stake.  “Dillon beat some great amateur players among our clients to win our regional contest and we are delighted that he went on to win the national final and, as his prize, enjoy a round with one of golf’s greats.”
