A FOUR-YEAR-OLD was determined to make a splash - as a mark gratitude to the playgroup that helped to make him a happy, sociable boy.

Lachlan Swan plunged into a pool a staggering 76 times in an hour and managed to raise more than £200 for the Rosetta Playgroup.

The Peebles youngster, who has autism and developmental delay, took part in the sponsored splash at the pool at the Macdonald Hotel, Cardrona last Saturday.

Lachlan’s dad Ian and older brother Hamish jumped into the water to give encouragement while mum Vicki and big sister Alex were poolside to count the number of splashes.

His mum said: “We were stunned when he reached that number of splashes and he had a fabulous time doing it.

“Some of the children were getting involved a sponsored treasure hunt for the playgroup but we thought he wouldn’t understand that and would enjoy something like this much more.

“Rosetta Playgroup have had Lachlan attending sessions for nearly 2 years, and they have made a huge positive difference to Lachlan’s life.

“They have often gone above and beyond the call of duty to help and support not just Lachlan but us as a family.

“Lachlan was once a very lost, lonely and unhappy little boy, thanks to the wonderful ladies at Rosetta Playgroup this is no longer the case.”
