AFTER a hiatus of two weeks, due to weather and opposition staff shortages, County’s hit-and-miss season spluttered on with a defeat at home to Drummond Trinity by 8 wickets on Saturday.

In previous weeks they had recorded two splendid victories sending them up the league, but there was something not quite right on Saturday.

Batting first County managed 122 all out in a game reduced to 40 overs.

Old timer Murray put together a workmanlike 37 and later on Steve Slater dug deep into all his experience to produce a composed and assured 50, but the final total was never going to be enough.

The big canons didn’t fire.

County’s bowling and fielding was of a high order but Trinity, as much with luck as design, reached the total with the loss of only 2 wickets which somewhat flatters them.

With the season now half way over, County sit comfortably mid-table.
