A YOUNG golfing star from Peebles is the proud owner of a £30,000 car after beating odds of 5,000-1 to hit a hole-in-one.
Ailsa Bain, the Peeblesshire News Sports Personality of 2010, used her trusty five-wood for the wonder shot at the Renaissance Golf Club in Gullane, East Lothian.
The 24-year-old was taking part in a fund-raising event for the Clic Sargent Children’s Cancer Charity.
She was able to swap her five-year-old Citroen C1 for a Range Rover Evoque after the 189-yard shot at the 15th hole on the links course.
Ailsa, a recently qualified PGA golfer, was the Scottish under-18 champion and has represented Scotland at major events. She was also the youngest winner of the Peebles Ladies’ Golf Open.
She is now an assistant professional at Gullane but her roots are firmly based in Peebles, where her parents still live. She has been granted honorary membership of Peebles Golf Club.
Ailsa, who started playing golf at 13 and turned pro on her 21st birthday, was registering only her third ever hole-in-one.
