Peebles Rockets 36

Paisley Juniors 34

PEEBLES Netball continued its winning streak in national finals last weekend with a magnificent victory for the U13 Peebles Rockets in the Scottish Youth Cup finals.

The national finals day in Perth brought together the top two teams in Scotland at each age group.

Peebles Netball has had a team in the final for an unprecedented 12th year in a row.

Reigning champions at Under 13, Peebles Rockets, were determined to maintain the club domination at this age group.

The match turned out to be a battle of nerves with the score remaining tight throughout.

Paisley always had the edge and were leading by one goal going into the final quarter.

However, the Rockets were not finished yet, and with steely determination closed the gap resulting in both teams drawn at full time.

The match then went to extra time, with five more minutes each way to be played.

It was then that the Peebles Rockets moved up another level, and confidently held their form, building a slight lead.

The final whistle could not have come earlier, resulting in huge celebrations from the Peebles Netball camp, as the Rockets took the win at 36 goals to 34.

And there was further joy for the Rockets as one of their own, goal attack Stephanie Glasgow, was selected by national scouts as player of the match.

The Peebles Rockets involves players from three local schools, Peebles High School, Kingsland Primary and Priorsford Primary.
