WITH two games to play Biggar Colts are still in pole position in the Edinburgh Division 1 Championship.

Livingston had only lost once prior to this game and had this game down as a title decider.

They were up for the contest and certainly took the game to Biggar from the start with their large pack looking to dominate in all parts. This they did by hitting up with some big forwards rumbling up the park then managing to power over the try line early on to go into the lead. Livingston backs were also getting into gear early and two or three times they managed to go through the Biggar line only to be denied by some excellent cover tackling by Jack Warnock, who saved Biggar three times in the seven minutes he was on before going off injured.

Biggar were however weathering much of the Livingston play and started to get into the game with some great running by Mark Ewart and Ryan Anderson who caused problems for Livingston throughout the day.

Ewart hit up near the Livingston line, laid it back for Reiss Cullen to simply pick up and see the gap to go over for a try converted by Aird Jardine.

The platform was being laid by the Biggar forwards, from which the backs were getting good ball out to the line and Kevin McCarry went over in the corner.

Stevie Campbell was taking control up front and was making breaks that allowed Cullen to feed off and get the backs into gear. From a quick tap and go scrum half Cullen was able to put a pass out to Anderson who cut an angle to storm over the line for a try, which was again converted by Jardine. Livingston did come back into it and from a penalty they scored from a pushover try.

The hosts came back into things and with their forwards working more together were able to drive Biggar off the ball, managing to power up the park as Biggar struggled to contain them. From this the hosts powered over for another try and with a strong home support, they were starting to gain the upper hand.

The character Biggar have continually shown came through and they knew only too well that they had to contain this home XV surge - which they did in true fighting spirit.

Campbell scored a try which was again successfully converted by Jardine.

Livingston could not contain Biggar and the ball was then put out to the ever-improving Gregor Stewart who feigned a pass and cut inside his opposite number to score the final try.
