David Changleng, 43, will join eight others from across the globe who will take charge of the rugby sevens in Glasgow this summer.
The master of rugby at Peebles HS will act as a touch judge and will be joined by Gala’s Iain Heard and Andrew McMenemy.
The same threesome will also referee at this year’s Melrose Sevens. Changleng then travels to Prague to officiate at the Six Nations B fixture between the Czech Republic and Moldova.
Before he switched to refereeing in 1997, Changleng was fly-half in the Gala team that included Gregor Townsend and Chris Paterson. He won one cap for the Scotland U21 side.
He is a regular referee in the Scottish Premiership and on the Borders Sevens Circuit.
Last Saturday he took charge of the RBS Scottish Cup Quarter Final when Glasgow Hawks edged out Cup holders Ayr.
