The first XV rounded off their season with a 34-5 win over Grey Highlands Secondary, Flesherton, Ontario.

The sun was certainly out for this friendly match and the fast pitch allowed for some entertaining rugby to be played.

Well-marshalled by skipper Jack Harrison and man of the match Murray Brown, the home side ran in four first half tries. Some lovely skills by scrum half Thomson and strong running by wings Freeman and Campbell led to two further tries. In the U16 match the inexperienced Canadians did well to hold a powerful home team. Peebles ran in six tries but the Ontario outfit struck back with two of their own.

Peebles High School U15 side played in Grey Highlands last May so it was a good chance to repay the hospitality shown to them in Bruce County.

The Canadian visitors spent the day in Peebles and enjoyed a tour of Traquair House and a walk up the Tweed past Neidpath Castle and over the viaduct to the Sware.

All boys remarked on the beauty of Peeblesshire and the sun was most welcome after average winter temperatures back home of - 25 degrees!
