BUDDING rugby stars at Peebles High School took a break from their regular timetables to get some lessons from experts in their sport.

Scotland’s Under 20 squad has been enjoying great success in the Borders and they came to the school to reward the community for all the support they have given them.

The players took part in training with the pupils and gave them numerous tips during a question and answer session.

Conor Blyth, a spokesman for Scottish Rugby, said: “We called this a legacy day. The U20s have been playing all their games in the Borders and they thought it would be nice to give something back to the community. Several of the players are professional and they were able to advise the pupils on lifestyle, training and all sorts of other things on how to progress in the game.

“It was great for the youngsters to be able to chat with the players. They also did some training with them for a bit of fun.” Current senior squad members Adam Ashe, Jonny Gray and Sam Hidalgo-Clyne have all stepped up from the U20s and Blyth added: “It shows that the programme is in place to bring players through.

“Peebles has become a rugby school and I am sure the youngsters would have learned a few things on how to improve their game.” BUDDING rugby stars at Peebles High School took a break from their regular timetables to get some lessons from experts in their sport.
