Peebles Youth Orchestra has made an excellent start to the season under their new conductor, Kenneth McAllister.

New players, young and old, have joined the string, wind and percussion sections and enjoyed playing Mendelssohn’s ‘War March’ as well as a jazzy ‘Down by the Riverside’ and a South American rhythmic dance.

All good fun! There is space for more string and wind players to join – and adults as well as children are welcome. Rehearsals are in St Joseph’s Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesdays from 6.15pm to 7.15pm – just come along and join in.

For more details call Kenneth on 01721 760325 or email: kdmca@macace.net The main Peebles Symphony Orchestra starts rehearsals next Wednesday, September 24, with a sight-reading session getting to know the music of the forthcoming concert on November 29.

This concert will be something very special as generous sponsorship from the Benson Family has enabled the orchestra to book two fantastic soloists and a new conductor presenting a concert of Mozart and Bizet. Watch out for details and don’t miss this!

Meanwhile, new players are welcome to join the orchestra – come to a rehearsal in St Joseph’s Neighbourhood Centre on Wednesdays at 7.30pm or find out more from Claire Garnett by calling 01721 740256 or email: rc.ganett@btopenworld.com
