TRAQUAIR will be celebrating Halloween this year by bringing back some ghosts from the past for their spooky Halloween Tours - and then having some spooky fun and games for all ages for a Halloween Fun Day. The popular ghostly evening tours of Traquair return by popular demand and are being held on Friday, October 24, Saturday, October 25, Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, at 7pm and 9pm each night.

If you want a truly atmospheric visit to this ancient house, these are the nights to come. Ghosts of the past come to life and guide you through the house telling the stories of their lives and the trials and tribulations they faced as Catholics and Jacobites.

Be on your guard for the odd surprise and then relax in the comfort of the 18th century dining room with a glass of mulled wine. Not for those with a nervous disposition.

On Sunday, October 26 the Halloween Fun Day (11am to 4pm) will suit families and for children of all ages. Get dressed to kill and enjoy the wide variety of entertainments from traditional Halloween games, including Apple Dookin’ and Spooky Lucky Dip to a ghostly chocolate treasure hunt in the Maze, Spooky Scavenger Hunt, Spooky face painting and a Wizard and Witches workshop. For those who dare, take a trip down the Spooky Passage for a very ghostly experience or listen to some ghoulish tales in the library. There will also be magic shows throughout the day with Kramus Nexifus, the Magical Wizard and for adults, tarot readings in the house.

The 1745 Cottage Restaurant will be serving Halloween suppers on the nights of the ghost tours and lunches and teas every day until the end of October.

Ghost tour prices are £12 for adults and £8 for children. Tours suitable for eight years and over. Combined tour and supper ticket is £24.

Halloween Fun Day prices are £7 for adults, £4 child/concessionary and £18 family (two adults and up to three children). Tickets on the gate only for this event. Box Office 01896 830323.
