And Duo Hyperborea bring with them their unique blend of hypnotic rhythms and sinuous melodies.

Helena MacGilp and Chris Elmes have been entertaining and enlightening audiences across the country with traditional sounds from the Balkans, the Middle East and Turkey.

And they even throw in some authentic Italian medieval music for good measure.

There mesmerising performances have earned them a growing fanbase all over Scotland and the north of England.

And on Friday, June 26 they will perform within the intimate setting of Broughton Village Hall.

A spokeswoman for the Balkan and Medieval music specialists said: “Duo Hyperborea will be presenting their seductively diverse selection of vocal and instrumental music from Turkey, the Balkans and the Middle East, with a dash of Medieval Italian.” Helena and Chris perform songs and music from Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and further east, as well as medieval Italy.

The duo perform on various combinations of two ouds, Macedonian tambura, percussion, and of course the compelling voice of Helena MacGilp.

The Broughton concert on Friday, June 26 starts at 7.30pm.

Duo Hyperborea will qalso play at Smailholm Village Hall the following evening and Southdean Village Hall on the Sunday.

Doors open at 7pm at all three venues and tickets are priced at £5.
