DO you want the good news or the bad news?

Well, the bad news is that Friday night’s headliner at this year’s Innerleithen Music Festival, Eddi Reader, is sold out.

The good news, and there’s plenty of it, is that tickets are still available for the rest of the fantastic line up heading towards the Tweed Valley later this month.

Not only have the organisers booked some of the best live traditional acts in the country but they have also arranged workshops, open mic sessions, and plenty of singsongs in the pubs.

It may be an old cliche, but there is virtually something for everyone at this year’s music festival.

The timeless Border Boogie Band tune up this year’s Festival on Thursday, August 20 in the Tweedside Hotel.

And there will be plenty more dancing and singing the following evening as former Fairground Attraction singer Eddie Reader takes to the Memorial Hall stage.

Although the Friday main concert is sold out there’s still plenty going at the Live and Local Fringe in the Vale Club and the Festival Club at the Union Club.

Skipinnish weren’t named Live Act of the Year in 2014 for no reason - and Saturday night offers a rare chance to see this excellent traditional band from the Highlands up close at the Memorial Hall.

Saturday also sees local hero Tommy Ashby make a return to his roots to perform with The Mischa McPherson Trio.

Euan Drysdale and Alastair Savage bring their Music and Words of Burns and Gow show to the Union Club.

There’s also singing workshops, rock 'n’ roll sessions, fringe performances, and even a historic walk throughout Saturday.

The fantastically entertaining Bevvy Sisters take to the Memorial Hall stage on Sunday afternoon along with Kathy Stewart and also Nomad Beat, And it is down to some of the country’s greatest voices - Shona Donaldson, Paul Anderson, Mike Tickell, Mark Dunlop, and the Fisher Lassies - to bring down the curtain.

Tickets for all of the concerts, apart from Eddi Reader, are still on sale at Scotlight in Innerleithen and also the Eastgate Theatre in Peebles.
