STOBO Kirk reverberated with music last Saturday with a performance by Nomad Beat, the community music school located in Peebles.

Guitars, banjos, drums, accordions, mandolins, violins, double basses were all played in marvellous entertainment by the talented group of amateur and learning musicians who hail from Stobo, Peebles, Eddleston, Walkerburn and thereabouts. All ages were represented, including young violinist Jennifer Brown who celebrated her birthday by playing at the concert - a healthy rendition of Happy Birthday by both players and audience was sung.

Nomad Beat played a mixture of Balkan, classical and Celtic music,as well as singing, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

At the end, after warm applause for the all-aged players, both players and audience gave Alison Cameron, the inspirational leader of Nomad Beat, hearty applause for her enthusiasm and dedication to the group. A total of £140 was raised which was split between church funds and Nomad Beat. But that was a bonus - seeing and hearing the Church being used successfully by a community group was the real success of the night.
