A FUNDRAISING drive to improve and expand the Eastgate Theatre will take centre stage in the coming days and weeks.

Supporters of the Peebles theatre's plans have organised two events to soothe the soul and tickle the taste buds.

The first of the theatre’s two Building on Success fundraising events sees a celebration of the music of Simon & Garfunkel tonight (Friday).

The timeless tunes of these two supreme singer-songwriters are performed by professional session musician Tim Chu and celebrated solo performer and recording artist Ian Bailey.

Following years of individual touring schedules, the pair have joined forces to concentrate on showcasing the music of Simon and Garfunkel, touring intimate venues around the country.

All ticket proceeds from the concert go to the Eastgate development project.

The concert is followed on Friday, March 9 with an altogether different celebration.

In Just Gin, Kate Macinnes, founder and head distiller at Lilliard, a tiny micro-distillery nestled by the River Teviot, will take gin enthusiasts on an entertaining tour of Scotland’s burgeoning boutique gin industry.

Fun as well as informative, the evening involves tastings of six different gins from around the country, a range of cocktail demonstrations, plus the fascinating back story on the individual gins and distillers that are lighting up Scotland’s small-batch gin industry.

All ticket proceeds will again go to the Eastgate development project.

Tickets for both events are available from Box Office on 01721 725777, or online.
