IT is six months since Home Basics introduced its Self-Referral Scheme which allows anyone in receipt of means-tested benefits to a discount on most items for sale in its stores at Walkerburn and Hawick. The Self-Referral Scheme has over 150 registered users.
And when you take into consideration their partners and children, it has probably helped double that number.
Dennis Fisher, business manager at Home Basics, said: “Home Basics wants to give as many people as possible the chance to access good quality furniture and white goods at low prices.
“We’re very pleased with the success of the scheme and just want to get the word out to as many people as possibly. Individuals on means-tested benefits can join by completing a registration form available at either of our shops or online at www.homebasics.org.uk.” Self-referral clients save 25 per cent on their purchases and 50 per cent on delivery charges. The total savings to customers so far is in the region of £4000.
