A YOUNG cyclist has raised more than £550 for charity WaterAid after biking 73 miles.

Fin Price, who is just nine years old, completed the nine hour challenge with his dad Ian on Saturday.

The pair rode from Cardrona, up through the Manor Valley, did loops around the Tweed, before pedalling to Melrose, then all the way back to Cardrona.
The Priorsford Primary School pupil had been aiming to cycle 50 miles, but exceeded his goal.

Mum Cassy told the Peeblesshire News: “He showed real determination and we are very proud of him.

“Fin was aiming to cycle 50 miles, however he was very determined to raise as much money as possible for WaterAid, and kept going well beyond his goal.

“He managed to cycle 73 miles with his dad, spending over nine hours in the saddle, including an ascent of 4200 feet,” she added.

“His little sister Jessica, who is five years old joined in for three of the miles!”
Fin chose the charity after finding out about the work it does around the world and was desperate to lend a helping hand.

Cassy added: “He decided to raise money for WaterAid after learning about natural disasters at school.

“WaterAid is a fantastic charity that works around the world to bring safe water and sanitation to millions of people.

“The main trigger for him taking on the cycle was when he found out that a child dies every two minutes around the globe due to unsafe drinking water.

“Fin has now raised over £550 for WaterAid, which is a great amount.”
