RESIDENTS at a West Linton sheltered housing complex were treated to a special lunch to mark 30 years of the site.

Broomlee Court, which was opened in 1986, was covered in birthday decorations and there was even a special cake.

The lunch was organised by the Broomlee Court Social Committee.

Helen Forson, who has lived in the complex for almost 18 years, said she was “honoured” to cut the cake to mark the celebrations.

She told the Peeblesshire News: “Broomlee Court Social Committee have done such a great job organising today’s party. It has been a lovely excuse to get together for some delicious food and share stories about our lives here over the years.”

Chris Milburn, director of customer services for Hanover (the housing association), attended the celebrations and presented Mrs Forson with a bouquet of flowers.

He said: “I am delighted to be here today to celebrate with the residents at Broomlee Court on their special day.

“There is a brilliant sense of community here and the Broomlee Court Social Committee have done a spectacular job organising today’s celebrations.”

Dorothy Wilkie, Broomlee Court’s development manager, added: “My thanks to everyone involved in organising such a fantastic lunch for our 30th anniversary.

“It is lovely to be able to celebrate all together and we were delighted Chris was able to attend.”
